Mayor Leonora Wong is proud to announce that the San Simon eTaxcollections3 won 2nd place in the eGov Awards "Best in eGov business empowerment (G2B) " organized by DILG and NICP in partnership with the Visayas ICT Cluster of the National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Program (NICCEP) , Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) , Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Microsoft Philippines, ICT Office of the Department of Science and Technology, held in the DILG building, Quezon City last December 20, 2013. 


The eGov awards aim to encourage the effective and efficient utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) in the delivery of services and in performing the duties and responsibilities of local government units (LGUs). This award promotes transparency in local governance, and improves the business climate of LGUs, as well as motivates private and business sectors to actively participate and invest in local economic activities.


Out of the more than a thousand LGUs in the Philippines, 15 came out with the best practices in integrating ICT to improve local governance.


    San Simon is the first and only municipality to become an awardee in the eGov awards. Among the LGU finalists for the G2B category are the following: Alaminos City, Pangasinan for its One System, One Government Program; Cebu City the implementation of the Cebu Traffic Platform; Quezon City for its Point-of-Sale (POS) Tax Collection; San Simon, Pampanga for the implementation of its eTax Collections 3; Santa Maria, Bulacan for its eBPLS Online Application; and Silay City, Negros Occidental for its Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS). The entry of the municipality of San Simon ranked 2nd, with the city of cebu ranking first and quezon city as the third place.
